WHO ARE WE?
Carrs Lane Counselling Centre Ltd. is a charitable organisation run on a voluntary basis. Our Patron is MICHAEL JACOBS.
The service began in 1966, originally as a drop in centre for the people of Birmingham who were looking for support at difficult times in their lives. We now see clients by appointment only and our receptionist will be pleased to answer your queries if you telephone 0121 643 6363. Please leave a message if she is unavailable and your call will be returned.
Our aim is to provide a low cost counselling service to adults over the age of 18.
Carrs Lane Counselling Centre Ltd recognises difference and diversity in the community and implements an equal opportunities policy. We have disabled access.
WHERE ARE WE?
Our counselling rooms are situated in the lower ground floor of Carrs Lane Church Centre, which is at the far end of Carrs Lane in the centre of BIRMINGHAM and is approached from the High Street, next to Marks and Spencers. The entrance is on the left hand side of the car park.
WHAT TYPE OF COUNSELLING DO WE PROVIDE?
We provide a safe, secure environment where clients can gain an understanding of the challenges they face and the emotional distress they may be experiencing.
We use a person-centred/integrative model. Our approach is non-judgemental and focuses on a relationship of trust between you and your counsellor. This encourages clients to explore, in confidence, the options available to them and help them begin to make decisions which will enable them to work towards living in a more satisfactory way.
We hold Service Accreditation Award from The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Our Management structure and support system of mentoring and supervision for all our counsellors ensures all aspects of the service meet these standards.
WHAT TYPE OF PROBLEMS DO WE WORK WITH?
Our counsellors work with clients on a variety of issues including:
· Bereavement
· Depression
· Loss
· Mental, verbal or physical abuse
· Relationship challenges
· Anxiety and panic attacks
HOW CAN YOU BECOME A VOLUNTEER?
All applicants should be taking a counselling diploma course or above and counselling Diploma. We expect all our counsellors to be members of BACP.
We offer an Induction Training Course each year at cost and after assessment you may be asked to join one of our teams. Please telephone our administrator for further details.
HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US FINANCIALLY?
Our funds come from client donations, trust and corporate giving. If you can help in any way please let us know.
